ATV Loaded, fault while loading aditional software, now only screensaver works.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Patchstick Successfully
2. In Software menu, start installing additional software
3. Failure while loading software

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output was a succesful load of additional software.  What happens now 
is after a reset, atv starts to boot.  There is no "music" when the normal ATV 
boot process is going through, then I see the atv logo.  At this point, the 
screen goes black, and after a couple of mins the screensaver kicks in but I'm 
unable to navigate out of it to any menu.  The only response I can get is a 
reset using menu/-.  I've run the diagnostics that don't show a problem, and 
I'm reluctant to do a full factory rest if I can help it.  Any suggestions? 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Using ATV 3.0x and the latest version of atvusb on a snow leopard mac mini.
Please provide any additional information below.

I Have the same thing here.
Boxee would start but the 3d party software patches i kinda crashed, asked to 
send data to apple en then black screen. Screensaver works.
