Can't update Firmware with this? #546

Hi, 
I bought an Apple TV used, when I hooked it up to iTunes, it wouldn't allow me 
to sync it.  All my research pointed to a factory reset, which I did, this sent 
it's firmware back to 2.3.  Since I am in an area with very Spotty internet, I 
went ahead and found the newest firmware on the net (3.0.2) and downloaded it 
to my macbook.  At the same time, I downloaded this program, thinking OK no 
problem this should work.  Well, after 10 or so hours downloading the firmware 
and setting up the patch stick I throw it in the ATV and reset it, it goes 
through it's little deal and finishes up.  Everything is complete except it's 
STILL 2.3......  What do I do now?  It's probably going to take me 36-48 hours 
to try to download it direct to the ATV and that's if the power stays on that 
long!  Is there a way to do this???

No, this cannot be used to update the AppleTV OS.
