Downloaded and installed 3.0.1 but os is 2.2 with old atv menu #583

Using ATV Gen 1. I've downloaded what is supposed to be os3.0.1 
(2Z694-6004-003.dmg).  When I create the usb key and insert it into the atv, it 
seems to install os2.2.  at least that's what the menu says (general>about). 
the atv menu is the old vertical menu (like the attached photo) not the new 
slick horizontal scrolling menu.

Aye, mate.  Update your ATV, then go here to get 3.02

Then download the right version and manually throw it into the flash drive 
creator.  worked for m.e
