No Sound over HDMI #586

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. creating the patch stick
2. booting to said patch stick
3. there you will see it 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I have gone through this whole thing and I cant get sound to come through the 
HDMI port of the apple tv only from the rca ports 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Im running a gen 1 tv and I created stick with a windows 7 laptop

Please provide any additional information below.
