Patchstick does not load #606

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Apple TV (1st Generation) - 160 GB running firmware 3.0.2
2. ATV Win 3.0
3. Windows XP - Service Pack 3

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I have used 10 different USB sticks and 2 different SD cards but none of them
will boot into the imaged software after plugging each device into the ATV and
holding down the menu and minus buttons. The ATV just boots into the normal
menu.

I have restored the ATV several times, which restores the firmware to version
3.0.1. I have imaged using the 3.0.1 image and the 3.0.2 image (of course
ensuring the ATV is at the same version!) but all fail to boot into the patch
stick.

I have power cycled the ATV several times too but it does not help.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

See above.

Please provide any additional information below.

No errors were reported during the creation of the image or during the imaging
of the USB/SD device.

The imaging was done using the device mode option.

I do not have access to a Mac otherwise I would have tried to reimage using a
Mac.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Hi
seems I have same problem as yours

Though I had previously did this successfully this summer in July (patching,
ssh installed and possible to run scripts on ATV 1, installed XBMC and Crystal
HD), when updating XBMC version two days ago and rebooting finder, the Apple TV
did not show the usual menu anymore (black screen instead), although it was
possible to listen to music using remote App. Tried to reboot several times but
after the welcome with all the screens, the apple TV decided to remain with
this black screen

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Apple TV 1st gen, 160Gb HD
I then Factory restored at firmware 3.0.2 automatically (no possible restore at
3.0.1 or lower)

atvusb-creator-1.0.b13, used 2Z694-6013-013.dmg, my Apple TV running firmware
3.0.2
Correctly created the patchstick, partitionned at the end of the process with
PATCHSTICK and Recovery, no error message at all

used 3 different USB sticks, tried both formatted in Mac OS Extended
(Journaled) or DOS FAT32 (formatted on my iMac or a PC)

rebooted several times using menu + down, or unplugging the power cable

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I was expecting the ATB booting on my USB stick, installing ssh, XBMC, launcher
etc…but plugging the stick on my ATV1 and rebooting it gave nothing, except
the usual start and then normal ATV menu

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

iMac running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8, Apple TV firmware 3.0.2

Please provide any additional information below.
nothing else than what is said above, and that I believe to have followed all
the correct steps…but it doesn't work !!

Thanks for your help, and please pardon my bad english…
Regards
