cannot create directory '/OSboot/user/frontrow/staging'

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Inserted patchstick into apple tv started apple tv and at the end said if no 
errors etc. I looked up and found "cannot create directory 
'/OSboot/user/frontrow/staging' "

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Restart apple tv and there is no sign of patch

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

MacOSX 10.8.5 - could not create a patch disk tried  to go into terminal that 
failed. read that only certain usb sticks work brought two more.
Used MacOSX 10.7.5. I created patch disks on all 3 usb.
