Currently, it is possible to start battles with a team of fainted pokemon.
This pops up an error in red text in the battle log:
"Missing interpretation on 'error' action |error|[Invalid choice]
Can't do anything: It's not your turn"
I've only tried this in single-player. Leaving the world fixes the issue by forcibly ending the battle.
