http://impressive.sourceforge.net/ provides nice features like zooming on parts of slides of highlighting some areas.

I think such features would be really great additions to pdfpc/pdf-presenter-console.

Oh, yes, please do... PDFPC has the dual head support which is (as far as I understood) very difficult to have in impressive due to one of the python library. But Impressive has so useful features :

zoom
box highlighting
circle highlighting
very nice transitions
ability to configure hidden slides from the interface and to save this configuration in the presentation config file

I agree these would be useful and hope to include them, except for the transition effects. Call me old-school, but I find flying-melting-exploding slides usually do more harm than good. I wouldn't be against merging if someone is motivated to implement it, but don't expect it from me.
