It's nearly 2017. Either (a) the docs are out of date and we have to wait longer, or (b) the docs are out of date and we need not wait any longer.
I've been pointed to evidence that Flexbox is not supported even in IE 11 as of late 2016.

So it seems (a) is more correct.
