I think that, before asking anything from them (especially money u_u) we better simply present our project, and ask them what they are able to do for us (even if we still know what's the point of their organization). This way we may know more precisely the extent of what they intent to do for us.

What about this :

Je me permet de vous contacter sur le conseil de Laurent Kaczmarek afin de vous présenter le projet sur lequel mon groupe et moi-même travaillons actuellement dans le cadre de notre projet Epitech (EIP) et autour duquel nous avons l'espoir de monter une start-up, de savoir si il vous était possible de contribuer à la réalisation de celui-ci, et si c'était effectivement le cas, dans quelle mesure.

Ce projet auquel nous travaillons actuellement est en fait une application à orientation sociale et ludique, dont le principe, pour l'exposer simplement, est d'ajouter à la vie quotidienne de ses utilisateurs un "plug-in" d'"achievements".

Concrètement, notre outil à pour objectif de permettre à tous de se lancer des défis au quotidien, dont la réussite éventuelle déboucherait sur l'obtention de badges de réalisation dans la même idéologie que celle que l'on retrouve dans les jeux vidéos, ou via des outils adressés aux gamers tels que steam, le xbox live etc ..

Ce projet répond au désir, au besoin qu'ont les gens en général, de pimenter leur vie de tous les jours, de se dépasser, et de diffuser du contenu relatif à leurs exploits (photos, vidéos, commentaires ...) auprès de leur amis ou auprès du monde entier, chose que notre application est à même de leur proposer.

Veuillez noter que, dans le cadre de notre stratégie de communication, nous désirons garder secret les détails relatifs à notre projet ainsi que le nom qui le baptisera, et c'est pourquoi au stade actuel nous nous refusons à délivrer de plus amples informations le concernant.

I knew that talking about money wasn't the best idea, but no one usually answer anyway :)

I don't really like the « "plug-in" d'"achievements » part, but that's our usual yada yada.

You may talk about the monetization part, it's what Laurent Kaczmarek liked about our project (eg. I got my driver's license -> ads for cars shown on website)

Par exemple, si un utilisateur débloque le badge "obtention du permis de conduire", nous pourrons lui diffuser de la publicité visant à lui faire acheter sa première voiture."

Also I know what a "incubateur d'entreprises" is (dunno the english word for this ... company incubator ? u_u) and what is the purpose of it. But what this kind of organization do, and what it is ready to do for us is not the same thing in my mind =D

This is absolutely not our business plan. No, we will not put any kind of "visible" advertisement on our game.

We use a business-to-business approach: as a company, any size, you can add a package of achievements to our game for a certain price, and, depending on the package you have, you will be more or less visible by the users. (suggestions of achievements).

Here is a speech I gave for a business class assignment, which present the business plan in a very very informal way: https://gist.github.com/db0company/6114415

Note that our business plan is still unclear at this time, and we will have a meeting soon with the business team of the project to clarify it.


To present the project on a user perspective, you should use the latest communication documents we wrote: https://labeip.epitech.eu/svn/2014/lavieestunjeu/rendu/book/textes/

I also don't like the word "plug-in". Last time we use it was probably more than one year ago :P

You don't have to wait, you can still have a general idea of what we want to do. If they ask for the business plan, then yes, we'll have to wait for the meeting. Otherwise, a general presentation should be fine.

I don't think you have to put an example, but if you do so, make sure to make it fictional (not the name of a real company). It's hard for me to get an outside point of view to know if we need an example to clarify it or not :/

Yeah I don't think we need one either, since everything sounds clear and bright to me °° But well ... people do like examples to have a better understanding of a concept ... I also think that as a first contact it shall be enough and we can still explain further this idea in the future if need.

Anyway I can add something like this if you want :

"Pour ce qui est [...] des utilisateurs à leur encontre.

Il serait par exemple intéressant pour un fabricant d'automobiles, de créer un badge au nom de sa compagnie "J'ai acheté mon premier véhicule" qu'il serait possible de débloquer après avoir obtenu le badge "J'ai eu mon permis de conduire".

Il va sans dire [...] au travers de notre application."

I know a guy who works there. I'm going to visit the office tomorrow. The price might be 800 € / month for 4 developers. It's not very far away from epitech, we will be surrounded by good developers and startup, get good advice from experienced people and it's pretty cheap. Also, they don't want any equity or anything else.
