First Column is either a "Patent Number" for a patent that has issued or an "Earliest Publication No" for an application that may or may not have issued. Earliest Publication numbers are the ones that start with US and a year like US2014. They are the longer numbers. The shorter numbers with US followed by 7 digit number are Patent Numbers for purposes of this API.
Second Column are the unique "Application Numbers" (aka "applicaiton serial numbers") for purposes of this test. You can see that our paid database that produced this spreadsheet still doesn't provide "Legal Status" for the Publications. No brainer. Happy hunting, when you get the chance.
