Database format not recognized #102

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. select the database file
2. enter password
3. klick o.k.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected: 
- The application displays the content of the database file and I see the 
"general" and "backup" folders that contain my passwords.
in stead: 
- I get a "toast" message saying "Database format not recognized"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 2.1 on HTC Hero, product version 1.8.1 updated today.

Please provide any additional information below.
If I mount my phone's sd card via usb cable and open the phone's same database 
file from keepassx on linux, it opens just fine.
I have always edited passwords on my computer and then copied the file to my 
phone for mobile access to the passwords. This is the first time it's giving me 
trouble...

The problem must be with my PC's version of KeePassX. I tried opening an older 
version of the database file from my phone and that works fine... Any ideas 
what went wrong?

What version up KeePassX are you using? I'm not able to replicate this.

I also got Database format not recognized and found that changing PC version of 
KeePass did the trick.

My PC KeePass version was 2.07. I upgraded  to 2.13, opened my existing kdbx 
file on my PC, saved, and then copied that kdbx file to my droid. That stopped 
the error.

I love KeePass and I am so happy to now have it on my droid!!!!

I also get the "Database format nor recognized" error on my HTC Hero 2.1.

I'm using PC version 1.18 (to allow database writing on Keepass Droid)

Encountered the error about one month ago, then I was able to open the database 
a few days later.

Did a database update on the PC and copied the dtabase file to my phone.  The 
error has returned.  Tried powering down the phone and restarting.  No luck.

addendum to comment 4:  did a "save as" and renamed the database on PC, copied 
to Hero, and the database was recognized under the new name.  I hope I don't 
need to rename with each file save.

I have the G2x running 2.2.2.  Any suggestions?  Also getting the "Database 
format not recognized".

Same problem here: Keepass 1.20 on Windows 7 syncs via DropBox to my Android 
2.3.3 phone running KeepassDroid 1.9.2.

Opening the synched DB gives error 'Unsupported DB Version'.

'Sase As...' did not work.

Uninstalled 1.92 and re-installed 1.9.5(!) from the market. No available was 
shown in the Market, though!

This solved the problem for me.

I'm using KeePassDroid 1.9.5 only on a Samsung GT-I5800. Several times the 
"Database format not recognized" error. No solution.

I found out the problem for this issue (for me anyways), I was emailing the kdb 
to my gmail and trying to detach it and run it.  For some reason the detachment 
app I was using was corrupting it.  When I connected my phone and manually 
placed the kdb to my sd card, it then opened without issue.  Just posting 
incase it helps someone else.

I am having this issue with KeePassDroid 1.9.5 on my HTC EVO 4G. The app will 
not let me in.
I haven't connected my phone to my pc to look at it from there. I an nervous 
about un-installing and re-installing 1.9.5...lots of passwords in the 
database. Any ideas?

Complete uninstallation and fresh installation from the Market has removed this 
issue for me.

I may have a new ine for you.... I installed KeePass Portable 1.20 on a USB 
that I used with my Asus EeePC 701SD - no problems. The I installed KeePass 
Droid 1.9.7 to my Droid 3 and copied theUSB  database file to my SD Card - no 
problems. I upgraded the USB version to 2.16 - no problems. So far, I love 
KeePass!

Then I got a Transformer Prime, installed KeePass Droid, copied the database 
file from the SD Card to the Prime, and - wham! - the database format is not 
recognized. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still can't open the database. I 
plugged the SD Card back into the phone - not recognized. Plugged it back into 
the EeePC - error code 0x0000000D invalid/corrupted file structure. It's like 
the Prime altered the database file somehow.

So, I'm guessing there's an issue with the Prime, and I should just wait a bit 
for an update and try again. Am I right? Or am I out of luck?

Thanks for any advice. I'm new to all things droid, and trying to keep positive 
about it being more useful than it seems so far...

If using Google Drive to sync the .kdbx file, uncheck Enable encryption in the 
settings.

KeePassDroid 1.9.18.3 on Samsung Galaxy SII with the current CyanogenMod 9.  
Creating
a KP DB on the SDcard and creating an entry seems to work fine.  However once 
out of
KPD, restarting the program gives a "password error or database format not 
recognized".

However removing the card from the phone and connecting it to Debian-Linux-PC, 
using
keepassx - the DB _is_ recognized and the corrent contents are revealed.  

In contrast, KPD runs fine on my older HTC phone with cynaogenmod 7.2.  {so I 
don't
think it's operator error}

See https://twitter.com/bpellin/status/244550799693340673. The developer, Brian 
Pellin, says "Don't upgrade to KeePass 2.20 on the desktop if you want to 
maintain compatibility with KeePassDroid. The next version of kpd should fix 
it."

However, that was on Sep 8, so who knows when the "next version" of 
KeePassDroid will be released.

Syncing through Google Drive seems to corrupt the file somehow? I was getting 
the "Database format not recognized" error.

Copying the .kbdx file manually onto the android device, solved the problem.

@#15 & #16, in KeePassDroid settings, only application settings is available 
and database settings is greyed out, I'm not seeing the "Enable encryption" 
option. (1.9.18.3)

Hi folks, I was also getting this error with my database file that I had synced 
with Google Drive.

To fix it, I changed the database compression settings from GZip to None, 
resynced with my phone over the drive, and now it opens fine.

I am using KeePassX v0.4.3 on the current version of Ubuntu. I sync via Dropbox 
onto my phone and tablet. On my phone I am using KeePassDroid 1.9.18.3. My 
database file is saved to my external SD card. Every thing was working fine but 
now I get "Database format not recognized" error message when I try to open the 
database file. I have tried deleting KeePassDroid off my phone, and 
re-installing it from Google Play but that did not change anything.

I'm not seeing a database compression option on the phone or the desktop.

I had this issue with KeePassDroid and syncing it via Google Drive, and could 
not find any "database encryption" option in keepass.
I found that it was Google Drive that was encrypting the database file. In the 
settings for the Google Drive app, on the device you are using KeePassDroid on, 
disable "Enable Encryption". You will need to re-sync the files, but it should 
work fine after that

Thanks @#21. Your method of changing the setting from GZip to None solved my 
situation also (syncing with Google Drive)

@#22, I don't know about Ubuntu but in Windows, the database compression option 
is found in: File -> Database Settings -> the Compression tab

I have a similar issue.  I use kp 2.22 on Windows 7 and KPD is most recent 
version available on Android market.  When I plug my phone in via USB and copy 
the .kdbx file over, then unplug the phone and try to open the .kdbx file, I 
get a "toast" saying "Filetype is not supported!"

I also get this issue. Using KeePassX version 0.4.3. I also tried KeePassX 2 
git, and that didn't work as well, it did not recognize the database. Thanks 
for a wonderful product! :)

Encryption on offline files in the google drive app for my phone was the issue
Disabled the encryption in the drive app, now the database file is recognized!
