living in chromeOS?

this dropbox stuff make me glad we got a chromebook for my youngest is off to college.

I'd like a silent machine for my home office. Could I live in ChromeOS there?

What are the equivalents of...

• putting files on the desktop?
• connecting my beaglebone green wireless and getting an instant web server with cloud9 ide?
  • do I really want that? how is it authorized?
    • that hardware rule system... how would that look in cloudabi flower?
• grabbing new funky code from github and building it
  • would cloud VMs be enough? maybe still operate an always-on machine as a sort of dev box? (still not really a server)
