location history - another episode in confidentiality vs. availability #59

Google lets us limit location history to 3 or 18 months. Yay!

So I used Google takeout to get an archive of the old stuff. (Jun 5, 2019, 9:45 PM)

Now... where to put it?

There's also a 36 month option. Today, I'm going with 18 months and takeout exports scheduled every 2 months. Presuming it goes well, I'll reduce to 3 months in due course.

It's pretty clear that I can use the data without Google's services:

I've got takeout-20210102T171752Z-001.zip thru 8... odd... I meant to get only mobile-related products; I didn't expect to generate a lot of data.
