If possible, would be very helpful to explain the sbl-paper.tex file in the documentation. For instance, explaining what the difference between the \firstsection command for the paper title, and just the \section command. Also adding an abstract example would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I notice that you use the pibibleverse command to parse the verses and add to the index. However, SBL style states that at the beginning of a sentence the name of the book must be fully spelled out. Not sure if that can be done with the bibleref-parsing package, or just the bibleref package. Perhaps some suggestions for that wrt the SBL style would be helpful.

I won't document sbl-paper.sty in the main biblatex-sbl documentation, since it's really meant to be an example of usage of the biblatex-sbl style and I would anticipate that it would need to be tweaked for most purposes. However, I admit that sbl-paper.tex is a bit light on in explaining what is happening. I could just expand this file with a little more explanation.

As for pibibleverse, this is not too hard. I can add Pbibleverse and Pibibleverse macros that will spell out the book name in full. Would that work OK do you think?

Sorry, you are right, I mean to explain the file in the file, not documentation.

That would work great, thanks! That would fit the SBL style manual perfectly!
