`reference/delim` is unhelpfully named with confusing behaviour

The default for reference/delim is \hfill which pushes the reference to the right of the final line.

But changing it to something else results in unexpected and confusing behaviour.

It would be better to replace it with a reference/align option allowing greater control.

Perhaps it could take one of several options:

• inline (flowing straight on from quote)
• left (new line then flush left)
• right (new line then flush right)
• smartright (new line if required then flush right)
• smartleft (new line if required then flush left)
• centre/center (new line then centred)
