I think Lifestream keeps knocking my blog out due to too many queries? #64

I have my WordPress blog through StartLogic and lately I've noticed that my blog keeps going down and saying I need to install WordPress... and the tech support tells me it's because it's accessing the database too much since I'm limited to 75,000 database queries an hour. But there's not that many people using the site so I figure it has to be because of lifestream somehow.

What can I check or modify in the settings so that it's not accessing the database all the time? I mean the site will be up and then maybe 10 to 20 minutes it's down again and I don't know what it could be.

I did notice that the YouTube stream was having issues and I edited the CSS the way someone suggested on here, but later my site went down and when it came back the CSS had switched back? I don't get it unless the tech support at StartLogic used a backup or something.

Pretty lost but I want to keep using Lifestream because it's really handy. Any help would be appreciated!

You could change the update interval in the lifestream settings, changing it to a higher value would be mean it would check on your streams less often.

I think by default it's set at 15 minutes so try 30 or 60 and see if that helps

I think it had a lot to do with how many errors were coming up because YouTube wasn't working properly because YT had changed things and plus from time to time Twitter would pop up errors too.It might have worked to change the update interval, but I just dropped it completely and went with Friend Feed... With a little CSS editing, I'm happy with how it looks. You can see it through the link below in my signature if you want.

Hey guys,

Are there any lifestreaming plugins that won't knock out my website every 15 minutes? Bennuendo, I have done what you suggested but my website keeps on getting shut down by too many queries.

I have tried to access my website with no success through multiple computers during these knock out periods. Even though I love the convenience of wp lifestream - I hate how this plugin keeps shutting down my website periodically throughout the day.

UPDATE:

THE SERVICES I DO USE WITH LIFESTREAM:

ERROR MESSAGE FROM BROWSER

Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

I just gave up on the plug ins and used Friend Feed instead... it's kind of like Twitter but you can add all your RSS feeds to it and they automatically post. Then you just take the widget from that, edit it with CSS and it will look like it does on my site... http://benguinter.com

Thanks for giving me an answer, Bennuendo. I'll just uninstall the Lifestream plugin. Dealing with WP Lifestream is stressing me out especially since it doesn't really even have a support community. The support forum linked on their website is non-functional as well. This plugin is abandonware.
