that's a funny idea! so when one is tired of flying a meticulously planned mission with a military jet, why not once in a while fly freestyle at tree top level like barry seal?! : )
especially cause this could make use of planes otherwise not used during a campaign like the yak or christen eagle etc. from a PvE perspective, these types of aircraft could also be identified more easily as smugglers by the player (or AWACS as "unidentified small contact").
personally i would vote for making smuggler missions this an option though.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Insurgents need air tasks for players to COIN against. Or on the flip side, to insurge with if that's your thing.
Describe the solution you'd like Add a "smuggling" mission type. Set up points at some of the civilian airports on each map ( but where no control will be granted to either side, not part of the control chain) . If the insurgent faction (AI or player) can fly a plane loaded with various goods from a base they control to that civilian airport, they get say $20M income as a reward. I don't know if that's the right number, I don't know how much product you can fit in a cockpit. Only works once per point though, otherwise they are just flooding the market. Larger planes won't get you more cash for the same reason. Players /AI can decide if they want to spend resources patrolling (Tarcap) points or not. I don't know if you also want to have the plane have to fly back with the money. That might be more difficult from an AI perspective. Plus I imagine they have more electronic means of access to the cash anyway.
Additional context The A-29 Super Tucano got me thinking about this. Consider also adding a "Cartel" faction that has hueys and whatever unarmed prop plane is available (TF-51 maybe) as a stand in for what they would use for smuggling in real life.
