No error produced on Linux failure #7

On Linux, if the installation fails it will still say that it was successful.  
No error messages are produced in the command line or elsewhere.  They can be 
*briefly* seen (<0.25s) if you run the JAR as a user and it prompts for the 
`sudo` password - they will appear just after giving root access, but the 
window immediately disappears.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run JAR on openSUSE
2. Installation says it succeeded
3. Installation in fact failed with no notification

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
An error of *some* sort should be produced.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v1.3 on OpenSUSE 13.1
