16.04 LTS is pretty badly outdated (e.g. no --color for diff), and we're running out of time on the support lifespan.

piuio driver claims to have dkms so I don't know why it didn't work the first time I tried.

it SHOULD be a libusb driver (oitg/notitg has one built in). i don't think there's one in stepmania but it's worth checking.

20.04 will be out soon, but I don't know if we'll be able to install, transfer, and validate everything before then.

necroing this, since andrew mentioned we should upgrade to 20.04 and i can hopefully get around to this during the sem pending this
