Alright,

I have spoke to Todd at Gajeske in Austin http://www.gajeske.com/contact. 512-278-1557

8" DR 11 HDPE pipe is $11.50 a foot, comes in 40 foot sticks and caps are $42 each. It cost $145 to rent the welding machine and they will do this for us at $45 hr with a minimum of 4 hours. This is a baseline of a super good float that will last and put up with anything we could throw/paddle at it. I think this can be the gold standard goal float material for what ever design we use. If we jump up to 10" it gets a third more expensive for materials and there is a threshold here for the cost of the machine to weld them.

In our conversation after practice last night, @djdubose mentioned that sinking posts would likely be difficult, but that stringing a line shore to shore may still be an option. He offered to do a bit more thinking on it and let us know if he thought we could pull it off.

The current back-of-napkin estimate for floating goal construction is $400 in materials, plus whatever labor for welding, cutting, etc. If we use our existing goals and find free welding somehow, that's $800 for the two new goals.

ddrinka commented 7 years ago

@c1slalom will talk to Brett about welding.

ddrinka commented 7 years ago

We will use the current goal design.

ddrinka commented 7 years ago

Tubing materials for two goals for $600.

ddrinka commented 7 years ago

There is a good spot for practice goals to hang. We can use our existing plastic goals for that.

ddrinka commented 7 years ago

Kevin Vokes has some guys who weld.

Doug has a contact who used to do foundation repair. He might have access to some folks who could hook us up with some polyurethane foam.
