They use OSPF to learn about the destinations internal to this AS and to inform the internal network about the external destinations

Should it be "They use OSPF to learn about the destinations internal to this AS and to inform the external network about the internal destinations" ?

No. BGP is typically used to advertise internal networks to the external world.

So OSPF redistributes the external routes learned through BGP to its internal network(AS), is my understanding correct?
