Install without rm hacks #4

Thank you for writing this, eraser capabilities would greatly improve my rm1 experience!

I do not have a need for the other rm hacks, and value the uncluttered interface of the rm (though missing out on features). Could you provide a stand-alone installer for the stylus patch? I think this would be useful also for people wanting to try out other software that would be incompatible with rm hacks, like ko reader.

i will see what I can do, producing another patch just for this use case on top is more additional effort (and xochitl has to be patched after every update).

also koreader and other things should work without problems.

aussetg commented 3 years ago

I'd also like a "vanilla" patch but can understand it's more work

Thanks a lot, I think other users feel like me about rm's minimal interface since it is one of their main selling points. I cannot see the code, I have no idea of how much effort my request would take, therefore I understand if creating a patch for just the stylus is nothing but overhead

Don't forget that you can use the "ExtraUI" on/off toggle in the hacks to mimic the original UI look.

I'd also like to use the stylus patch without installing the rest of the hacks, if possible. Your time and effort are appreciated.

there was another project that allowed that (by injecting user input)

I will do another search and see if I can find it.

Well, thanks. You are appreciated.

I have tried that one and unfortunately hasn't worked for me.

One of the Isaac's issues is about the support for rm1 and it looks like the work there isn't finished. https://github.com/isaacwisdom/RemarkableLamyEraser/issues/12

Have somebody maybe had more luck in erasing on rm1 without installing the hacks?

AaronDavidSchneider commented 2 years ago

No same issue with rm1
