Widget isn't updating #7

I'm using 1.0 of the Hacker News widget from the Play store on a Galaxy S23+ with Android 14 & OneUI 6.1. In the last few days I noticed the widget wasn't updating, but if I clicked the title bar to open the app it will show me top, best, & new.

I cleared the cache, cleared data, uninstalled & reinstalled but no luck. The widget just indicates it's trying to update but nothing loads. I'm using a custom DNS (NextDNS) so I can see it's trying to connect to thirdgate.dev. I also use a VPN. I disabled the VPN & switched to dns.google but still - no luck.

I'm fairly confident I've tried everything on my end. Samsung just pushed out a security update for OneUI 6.1 in the last couple of days, so I'm not sure there's any correlation there or not.

@pogue Apologies, was not on this lately. Were you still hitting this issue? I'm yet to encounter this issue, but will try on OneUI 6.1 to see if I can recreate.

Hi, yes, it's still occurring. I would have thought it was a server issue. But the widget is showing yesterday or the day before's Hacker News and when I click to open the main app, the 'Hacker News: Top' section is hung on "Data loading... pull to refresh". However, both the Best and New section load perfectly. which is unusual & unexpected behavior. Clearing the cache does not seem to help.
