Kills are not being registered in status screen

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Kill a pirate
2. Get to the space station
3. Notice that the kill hasn't been counted on the commander status screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
If I kills me a pirate, I want credit for it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DN 1.030 on iPhone 2.2.1

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm stuck on zero kills. I get the bounty dialog come up, and sometimes the
scoop cargo one, but I never get the kills registered on the commander
status screen.
