💬 Brief description of feature

Debrief and ArcGIS currently form the main tools to analyse Pepys data. But, they only handle spatial analysis. Pepys holds a lot of non-spatial data.

There is the option to introduce ASCII charting in Pepys-Admin (or Pepys-Viewer). But, modern browsers provide an opportunity for much more advanced rendering & interactions.

We have invested a lot of effort in the Python code used for management of Pepys data. Use of Python Flask means a browser-based front-end can be introduced which interacts with the existing Python code. Browser functionality will concentrate on data analysis & interactions, with the Python backend performing data handling.

• View data directly from the database, without needing to export to MS Excel
• Develop set of plots & analysis products that can be automatically produced for engagements

• Correct adherence to units & data-types ensures consistency in outputs
• Task-oriented interactions with data, exploiting the relationships already present in the data

Other

• Ability to perform exploratory analysis of data received, including longitudinal analysis
