Organize a local game developer meetup sponsored by Decentraland #18

Closed nearnshaw closed 2 years ago

nearnshaw commented 6 years ago

Organize a meetup for game developers in your local area, name Decentraland as the event's main sponsor.

To redeem this bounty you must present pictures of the event, and screenshots of the event invitations (email, meetup event, facebook event, etc) , showing that the Decentraland brand was made present.

You can reach out to us for guidance and consultation if you need help with the talk's content.

In addition to the MANA bounty, we will cover the food and venue costs and provide banners and DCL related SWAG (tshirts, hoodies and stickers).

Work has been started.

These users each claimed they can complete the work by 4 months, 3 weeks ago. Please review their action plans below:

1) ryan-shea has been approved to start work.

This sounds super. I'm based in Denver / Boulder, CO. I'll connect with the local game dev meetups to host something that promotes the exploration of Decentraland and the possibilities of the platform.

I have connections with coworking spaces both in Denver and Boulder, so finding a space will be relatively straightforward. In terms of food, I'll look to find snacks and drinks that'll cater to everyone.

A good date for the event would probably be in 2-3 weeks. That'd give me enough time to organize everything and hopefully get a good turnout.

Is there anything specific that you'd like the event to cover?

The first step would be to approach three of the Meetup groups that I'm a member of about allowing me to introduce Decentraland to our members. The three groups are: Indianapolis Game Developers (125 members), Indianapolis AR/VR Development Tech (129 members), Game Meetup, and Indianapolis Unreal Users Group (134 members). The next step would be to choose a date that's convenient for the group owners and work with them on logistics.

I am a member of the Georgia Game Developer Association and I am familiar with the Atlanta Bitcoin Embassy. My approach will be to work with them on creating this event which is at the intersection of both their main objectives.

Do you have a target attendance number? Specific type of game based on genre developer? Will there be follow up events?

i. I will need to go over the presentation materials to acquit myself with Decentraland related materials ii. Fixed a date for the event and form a small team(2) to help carry out necessary logistics iii. Send out invite to my list that attended the last ethereum meetup I did without support from ethereum or any body and also create a meetup link/invite. Also send to necessary tech and blockchain groups and create a community down here in Lagos Nigeria. This will help to know the possible number of attendees in order to make adequate preparations iv. Create necessary reminders and follow up to already registered attendee v. Do a post via my medium blog and social media buzz about the event,

We regularly conduct meetups for our 4,600+ members and for our upcoming topics, we plan to tackle blockchain gaming, cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens. We'd love to organize the next one with your sponsorship. Our meetups are attended by at least 100 members composed of students, educators, and industry professionals. We have a burgeoning local community of game developers and blockchain enthusiasts here in Bicol (south of Manila) and this would be a great time to introduce Decentraland and blockchain technology in general to this audience.

Hello.

I organize Blockchain Meetups in Germany since 2017. https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/CryptoDorf-Blockchain-Ethereum-SmartContracts-und-Co/ https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/eosioberlin/

We would do your Meetup in Berlin.

We need to know the budget so we can scout a location that is fitting.

It will take us 2 weeks to organize the meetup until it is announcable and then we propose giving it 4 weeks to market it to the right audiences throught several relevant channels (these will be identified in the 2 week organizing period).

We personally really like your project and we would donate some of the mana to a developer at the meetup if he is willing to build something representing our local community.

Kind Regards, Severin Deutschmann

I am a student of IIIT Hyderabad (India) We organize a lot of event and even have a blockchain event coming up in the first week of August. Once that event is done, I could get a pretty good idea of how much understand / interest people have in blockchain and projects like decetraland. Would it be possible for you to ship the swag all the way to India?

aj07 commented 6 years ago

@nearnshaw can wine organise event in Delhi. Here there are lots of interest in Blockchain event.

dapperAuteur commented 6 years ago

@nearnshaw I was part of another project. It was cooperative and the funder was splitting the bounty between all the bounty hunters. Is that what's going to happen with this bounty? Or is each bounty hunter getting the full bounty for completed and accepted work?

cupOJoseph commented 6 years ago

@nearnshaw I just sent you a message on the gitcoin slack with the info from our event last night.

@nearnshaw by 'Done', does that mean no other events will be funded or that no new events will be approved? Please clarify what this means.

nearnshaw commented 6 years ago

We'll keep funding events. All we did was pay someone who already organized and carried out an event.
