Tech Sector: A Home for Developers #11

Do you want to join meetups with other remote developers who are building parts of Decentraland, Blockchain Software and other technologies? Walk down the streets of the Tech Sector and something is bound to catch your eye. Gaze through shop windows to see alpha prototype renders of early Decentraland, to see a group of developers huddled around a conference room in a Discord call together, or to visit a tech store to purchase apps, games, or gadgets for your own home or business in Decentraland.

The Tech Sector is one of the original districts and helped developers collaborate together as they dreamed, tinkered, and built Decentraland from the inside out. It contains not only a lot of history, but many of the latest cutting-edge digital storefronts and startups. Having a real digital brick-and-mortar conference center or meeting room for customers and clients gives modern businesses a unique look and advantage as compared to setting up centralized Skype calls because it sets you apart from the rest and shows that you have a spot on the world stage, similar to owning a short or prized web domain URL.

I love this idea. I think that it would be amazing if we could build "offices" for other currently remote based DLT's to operate out of. We could make DCL a "hub" for Blockchain startups.

Ok... whats the dealeeoo here.. I put 20 land into this baby .... whoever is onboard should introduce themselves here! looks like only an handful but its a start..... Austin is my name ...My skill set would be Multimedia / programming / video / graphic/ 3d modelling, IT/Tech background

Category: Public LAND: The Tech Sector is located near coordinate 59.49 at Genesis Plaza Startup Costs: The Tech Sector will use free and open-source assets created by the developers who live and work in the district. These assets will be shared for the entire community.

Hi everybody,I'm one of the contributors. I'm truly excited for decentraland and this project. I have experience with domains, web development and general business.

The formal proposal that was just posted isn't in line with my understanding of the districts intended use as per the original proposal. Maybe I'm simply not understanding the word choices.

The original proposal implies private ownership by discussing browsing tech shops and having a real brick and mortar location to put you on the world stage similar to "owning" a short or prized domain URL.

I have alot of ideas for this project including plenty of free stuff for the community to use. I would like to talk to you all about it as we hammer out these details.

Cauzworld- how many did you contribute because I only see 19 in total?

Title: Tech Sector Description: VR development, commerce, conference & community center(meet ups and learning). The aesthetic of a shopping mall/ workshop warehouse with several levels. Priority locations will be rented or sold to approved shops and developers that will guarantee a vibrant community. Higher levels in the structure will offer free spaces for anyone (possibly curated but still free). There will be a main conference area which will offer free presentations (learning,workshops,tutorials,product release, new companies) curated by our team and related entertainment as often as possible. The conference area will also be available for conventions and venue rentals. Venue renters will have the option to offer tickets for events. Sections of the structure will be devoted to permanent installments we wish to provide such as a learning exhibit, museum room or software utility open to the public. Project Lead: Team: Goal: The goal of the tech sector is to establish a bustling 247 development hot spot with an active community. The Decentraland community at large will know to visit the Tech Sector to learn, network, develop, socialize and buy quality items.
Category: Private LAND Needed: 19 parcels located near coordinate 59.49 at Genesis Plaza Startup Costs: Basics will have minimal cost or be free, full project has substantial cost How will funds be raised: Utilization of free assets and investors/tbd How will contributors see a return value: Rent,commerce commissions, event tickets and venue rentals, naming rights (like a sports stadium in real life), property sales (apartments, studios, shops, etc). Attachments / Designs / Budgets: TBD , I am willing to contribute a few thousand Mana to get us started with the basics if we need assets from Turbo squid etc.

Hi Junk JUnk ... can you forward on the rocketchat link for the group..... It might have be 19 as you says for the land i put into it... even so... We can all benefit if we work together in a shared vision and appreciate ... I have got good ideas and contacts to help make things become interesting !

Chat.decentraland.org then look for the Tech Sector public chat. I accidentally created a private one that isn't in use. Let's definitely work together and benefit together. I have been emailing a small vr company that might want to develop with/for us! I would love to hear your ideas! I'm mattyboy in the chat.
