festival land

Title: Festival Land Website: http://festival.land Project Lead: James Ashton Project Team: James Ashton, Sam Hamilton Goal: To create a district of festivals.
Ownership: UPDATE: The original plan was for people to have the option of building on the land they contributed. This will be realised in the 'interactive' portion of the festival.

Because we plan to hold ticketed events, and build elaborate and permanent structures we cannot use land that is not pooled together for building on. So self builders would be assigned parcels in an area to the side of the festival so the community part of the project can build the ultimate festival venue in VR.

Once we have members, we will talk about a communal/shared central festival field to act as a hub for which span across multiple contributers LAND. LAND Needed: 100 Startup Costs: How will funds be raised: Individual stages/attractions will self-fund. Still to be decided how we fun shared central festival field. Probably through donations or sponsorship. How will contributors see a return value: Contributors can put on events, gigs and sell merchandise or create any attraction found at real festivals. They can also capitalise on the large events planned for central land. Scope: Public

A city of festivals This district is for people who want to make a Festival city in Decentraland. Think of this as a multi-media/interactive festival - think of a non stop event to where organisers can create events, parties and entire festivals. Events could be as diverse and huge as Burning Man and Glastonbury. Once this festival starts there will be no stopping it!

Active or Passive involvement from contributors People can stake their land in this district and give themselves and others a platform on which to perform or present their work to the world. Or they can just develop their land, and lap up the excitement that is happening around them. You might just want to live somewhere entertaining when in VR.

Multiple Revenue Streams Although we want Festival Land to offer plenty of free entertainment and excitement to visitors, we also want to embrace free market economics and recognize the fact that people will make more of this if they can find a way to earn money from it. So it is fair game to set up a tent or stage and try your hand at promotion. The proposers of this district plan on putting on a mix of free events and pay to enter events in Festival Land. You could generate revenue by:

Footfall One of the attractions of this district is the footfall of people it will attract looking for a good time. Residents of Festival Land could capitalize on the footfall and do anything they want. A promoter could create a pay-to-enter venue with a stage, an artist could create a space to hang pictures and sell prints. Anything that is sold at a real festival could be sold here.

Marketing The proposers have a plan for marketing both in and out of DCL. If you are interested in staking in this project and want to know more, we will share some details with you.

Technical Solutions The proposers have technical expertise and will make available a version of the stage they develop which can be used on other contributors land. The proposers intend to build out a solution which will enable promoters, including themselves, to provide ticketed access to events.

Future Plans We have other ideas such as a subscription model which will allow people to attend all events at Festival Land in exchange for a monthly payment. We have some innovate ideas for the marketing of Festival Land.

We are prepared to start small, but hopefully you will join us and help us establish a Festival Land of 100 LAND or more. Come and help build what has the potential to become the biggest festival on Earth.

Like it....Done!

It's a good idea, but name "Festland" sounds infested. @jamesashton If I come up with a better suggestion, i'll let you know.

jamesashton commented 6 years ago

Well as can be seen, my original name was the fairly obvious 'Festival Land' I might go back to that - but keen to hear any other suggestions.

Hey James, good call with the district, seems like it has a ton of potential! I'm looking for a plot right now with some musician friends and would love to get involved with/located at Festival Land. Hit me up on discord (beanstalk720#4112) if you want to chat more/know of parcels available, I'm representing some killer musicians + DJ's in South East Michigan.
