Hunted District #73

Open TokenMaker opened 6 years ago

TokenMaker commented 6 years ago

A District for the horror fanatics within Decentraland. Description:

An area dedicated to what scares us the dark side of thing and anything related to horror. The town (Name in development) will host various genres and themes such as Goar, ghost, zombies, Cults, summoning rituals and pretty much anything that deals with horror. Guest will be able to enter horror town for a price and experiences all its twisted darkness year around. They will be a possibility for people to open up shops and their own horror related content for all to enjoy. Guests can then buy from those shops using MANA or a currency can be made to work only inside Horror town.

Guess will be able to choose which attraction they want to play and set up their own avatar before entering Horror Town.

Goal:

To provide an immersive Horror related VR gaming experience. Horror town is like having Halloween year around with the benefits of being able to experience multiple types of scares.

LAND Needed:

5500 Land is roughly the size of a football field. Ideally, this district would be bigger but the project is feasible with less Land and creative management. The bigger the town the more room for cool stuff to be added.

Startup Costs / How will funding be raised:

Right now this is all an idea. I`m a 3D designer and I have no experience with developing so a dev team will be needed.

How will investors see a return?

The more guests that come into the town to experience the attractions the more MANA for you. The whole town will be gates up with one point of entrance. Here the guests will be charged MANA to enter. Once inside they are free to roam around. The more they spend the more returns.

Team: Reach out of interested. The more people that join the more features we can add.

Category: Private admission is required.

LAND Needed: Unknown

Startup Costs: around 5500 or more. The more the better

How will funds be raised: Unknown. If you have any ideas lets talk about it.

How will contributors see a return value: a portion of profits from admissions and things bought inside.

Attachments / Designs / Budgets: Unknown

--

This is a simple idea and I'm open to hearing any inputs into this.

yjj2017 commented 6 years ago

Interesting idea. Can just make it a haunted town, It can be a great VR project.

Dmitry1987 commented 6 years ago

You know what guys, I have a bad feeling (despite being a fan). We all have only ideas and no money... if the land will remain empty (and it needs MILLIONS of dollars to develop something interesting in there, just look at budgets of games like GTA, Skyrim, etc') people will enter the game and immediately leave it, sending rumors that it's a trash project. It is a very dangerous situation for all future of this project. They need serious business investors - that will calculate the market, expenses, profits, possible use cases for this VR universe in terms of monetization, and will invest, a lot, to develop something useful in there. Otherwise I smell gigantic failure... remember - ideas worth nothing (ok let's respect the ideas and give it 5%), execution is the key (95%).

Most of companies we know as tech giants and other successful global corporations, didn't succeed because of their ideas and innovation, they are marketing and PR giants- masters of "selling their sh*t to sheeple".

Decentraland must be ready to "sell" their stuff to people (I don't mean money, but impression, brand, interest), and better be good at it :) . Otherwise it'll remain an empty land with thousand of silly fans who bought that land :) . Did you see the price of MANA token behavior on Bittrex? Not just it was "the dump of the century", people continue to sell like crazy, prices remain below ICO price. This means EVERY investor of Decentraland ICO is in big loss at the moment. The ICO itself had issues, not very good communication with community (me and all my friends long time believed DL is a scam, at the moment they still think it is - which is proof of bad\amateur communication). What I'm trying to tell is - Decentraland needs urgent "public relations" campaign or something, to rehabilitate its name, and they need to show super quality sh*t in their VR world when it opens to public.

And with all "ideas but no money" threads here, which don't get support or any response from project admins who collected 25M$, I have a feeling the grand plan of founders unfortunately might be to spend about 500-800k showing some random "activity" in the next few years (which will cost them less than 1M, easily), then keep the rest of funds to themselves, stating "the project has failed, well, maybe next time". Just thinking, like, who can stop them from doing that? But we'll see only next year what's the real situation with this project...

roadcrypto commented 6 years ago

@Dmitry1987

Producing quality games won't be easy. The core team is working hard on making a platform where we can host our respective districts.

If you want a community manager, then make it happen somehow. You're either lacking the knowledge to move forward or to find the right person to do so.

There's a multitude of resources out there for startups, maybe you're expecting too much right away. The core city and Districts will be something presentable to investors, your job now is to find ways to make it happen.

For example, I'm following Game and MobileGo closely. Even if it's not Mana, there's nothing stopping me from utilizing that resource.

@TokenMaker This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a great project. you might have to learn a-frame, find some students, do a crowdfunding. creating a District is not something that's being handed to you, you have to make it happen.

Interesting Idea, have you thought about setting up shop in the amusement park instead? It would certainty be a great collaboration and you would have the resources of a team.

Dmitry1987 commented 6 years ago

Hi @roadcrypto , thanks for joining discussion. Regarding

The core city and Districts will be something presentable to investors

I am not sure what do you mean, because the core city and districts will be an EMPTY LAND. Maybe someone will throw a few random 3D models here and there, but what exactly will be presented to investors?

And regarding

If you want a community manager, then make it happen somehow. You're either lacking the knowledge to move forward or to find the right person to do so.

I think you didn't understand what exactly I tried to say. I don't need community manager - I was talking about Decentraland, which has troubles with community since the moment of the ICO. A lot of people dumped all their MANA and don't believe in the project. If the communication was right - they'd hold their tokens to the LAND auction. I've read that total MANA sold on ICO vs total MANA staked to buy LAND is very little, most just sold it in loss.

roadcrypto commented 6 years ago

@Dmitry1987 I think you should take your opinions to your own District.

Oh, sorry you're right, deleting

Dmitry1987 commented 6 years ago

@roadcrypto thanks, deleted my opinions from here. Despite it's not your district, but you're right, I should keep those in my pages.

"5500 Land is roughly the size of a football field."

I think you mean mana worth of land? 5500 land is massive

archtad commented 6 years ago

Im a 3D Modeler and Architect, would like to get involved in design, modeling, etc.

Interesting project.

nkranders commented 6 years ago

I am an architectural Technologist and 3D artist. Would like to involve as well. Btw I was thinking decentraland is a user build virtual land so your tenants will bring in to the story too.:))

1pocketaces1 commented 6 years ago

@TokenMaker I have an adjacent parcel I would like to contribute to your district as a huge fan of the concept! I am a programmer though amateur and have a business I am currently working on. However, I would love to collaborate on ideas for the district and help with development as I might be able. I understand returns on any decentraland project will take years to realize, but I am thinking you (or maybe we ;) ) might be able to get a private investment and help from a bigger gaming company if decentraland as a whole gains some traction!

Also is there a chat or discord for this district?

TokenMaker commented 6 years ago

I honesty thought this die out to be honest! I have no made anything for it. But if you wish to discuss more about it I’m all ears.

Well it will definitely be a long term challenge to get the project off the ground but I will help out where I can! I have reached out to a couple friends who are horror fans for some ideas, and I am also currently looking through my contacts to see if I can find development help for this and a couple other districts I am contributing to. My personal contacts won’t be professionals but could get a start. Two thoughts I have right now:

First there are a few different categories of horror that attract different fans like spiritual, gore, suspense, and personal fears (spiders, sharks, etc) and I think It would be cool if we could have a part the district separated for each (or at least a couple) of the different categories!

Second, if we get a good concept together for what we would like to eventually build AND Decentraland shows some progress as a whole, I would be more than happy to put a proposal together to try to contact outside investors.

Are you the sole “owner” of the district? As in being in charge of how it operates and makes decisions?

That would be an awesome thing to get more people involved.

I like the idea of having different sections for different fears. What I though originally was that the players could build “hunted” house on the land and we charge them a % of that or we can charge people to enter the park and they then pay to go to their type of horror. That was the basic idea (from what I can remember it’s been a while)

For ownership I totally forgot how this works soo maybe ? I wouldn’t mind sharing ownership of the land with people who help creat something good.

I hope this helps feel free to add me on discord if you wish to talk more.

@archtad @yjj2017 @EmmaMakhno @roadcrypto I have been talking to @TokenMaker and will be helping out get this district off the ground to head up the project! Let's make this amazing.

I've started a discord to talk about the district here: https://discord.gg/khqdPB8 I am starting on a governance document, looking forward to input
