Vehicle design economy #17

Referencing @lkngtn and his movement layer economy proposal as the inspiration. I think that added complexity in the economic systems contributes a great deal to creative solutions and allows for better individual expression. My proposal is to create an industry of vehicle design that has two stages: design of the automobile itself, and the sale of open source manufacturing templates. The first stage is vehicle design. Here, a designer sets a budget, and designs a vehicle within that budget with custom appearance, and ratio of different performance and spatial variables, much like real world vehicle design. The designer can be any person in Decentraland. The designer can choose to make the vehicle at that cost, essentially purchasing it from the manufacturer. The designer can also choose to, at a cost, submit the design to the manufacturer marketplace, where they can sell the open source design and collect royalties. These designs can be forked by other designers, as long as the initial template was verified purchased and credit is given. The designer then, has one route of income: through sales of their template. The manufacturer has two routes of income: the larger one is to sell manufactured vehicles, the smaller one is to host the marketplace of designs. The cost of manufacturing, I think, should be based off of building equipment and factories, as well as energy. I want to make both of these roles an investment so that the marketplace and economy isn’t flooded with people quickly trying to make money, but rather by committed designers and manufacturers who put work into their services. Feel free to comment and add your own ideas to the mix, I’d love some feedback!
