6 years ago I think this is a great idea... a space to celebrate our natural world. Providing something familiar would also be a great entry point for those new to VR.
Would the foundation be willing to create a charter for a space like this?
A central common area in the form of a large park.
Numerous psychological studies have linked exposure to nature with increased energy, improved cognition, and heightened sense of well-being. Being in nature reduces anger, fear and stress and increases pleasant feelings.
Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with 40 million visitors annually and one of the most filmed locations in the world. This park space was set aside to be developed early in the cities growth, a magnificient park like it would have otherwise been impossible and cost prohibitive.
Decentraland will likely end up a high density urban-type environment and establishing a park area around the genesis block (0,0) will create value for all decentralandians. New yorks central park measures 843 acres (3.41 km2), in order to achieve such a substantial sized park area it would be great if the devs/foundation could set aside the common area and have the design be by contest with decentraland stakeholders voting on designs with updates and additions to be voted on so the park can get better over time as better graphics and innovative designs become available. The number of Land tile needed to create a substantial park of this nature means it will probably only exist if the dev/foundation set aside a few square kilometers. It will also make a great neutral spawn point and increase the cities urban edge.
