[VR+AR] LAND tiles include GPS coordinates linking to real world positions

Purpose To enable access to mapped DCL tiles based on current GPS coordinates of client. This enables a "alternative view" of reality, Augmented reality and possibly movement within DCL based on movement of the client in the real-world.

Description This is purely a concept for either:

• a section of DCL (a large swat of contiguous LAND) or
• a parallel DCL world/network

In either case, LAND in this alternative DCL network has the following properties:

• LAND tiles are limited to the real world Area (continental mass and oceanic surfaces). This means there can only be 5.10072e13 tiles.
• Each tile is mapped to the specific GPS coordinates.

Possible applications

• Wearing your DCL-powered VR goggles anywhere in the world will allow you to instantly see the tile content located "where you are". You're in Time Square, NYC, and you can see what existing in the same coordinates in DCL.
• Superimposing DCL content over real-world (AR): Alternative Time Square can be a futuristic square with mega-tall skyscrapers and flying cars.
• When you walk around the real-world wearing your DCL-powered VR goggles, your avatar position changes with the change in your real-world GPS coordinates. While this would be slow compared to other tracking solutions it would enable much richer interactions with the real-world and other people.

Clarifications

This proposal aims to map DCL tiles to real-world locations with a contiguous mass of LAND tiles. Since current plans for DCL means that LAND can be continuously claimed forever (as long as MANA is being created) another way to achieve this parallel world powered by DCL is to:

Have a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) buy up 5.10072e13 tiles of LAND (following a standardized mapping projection layout) and assign a GPS coordinate to each one. citizen controlling this DAO can now build on top of the "new parallel" world.

The land tiles wouldn't have to be a contiguous mass. It would be sufficient to allocate tiles only for those tiles that actually contain AR content. You would only have to make sure (by using a central directory such as a blockchain) that every GPS location maps to one tile of land at most.

On the other hand it will also be useful to have more than one such mapping. Each AR game such as Ingress or Pokémon Go could have a mapping of its own.
