Definition of full-sync replication is problematic/doesn't scale #171

Better approach is for the target server to setup a connection with the source and request a metadata only replication (filtered).

The "disconnected" phrase is a bit of a red herring. There are many use cases where this capability is useful.

In addition, it's not the normal of addressing the disconnected scenario.
