Status of I&D Work Items: did:peer Method #5

Hello @dhh1128.. Your repository peer-did-method-spec is one of the work items in the DIF Identifiers and Discovery Working Group (I&D WG).

We haven't heard from you about this in a while... Would you mind letting us know:

  1. Do you still want your repo to be listed as a DIF work item, and are you still the lead(s) for this work item?
  2. Could you write a short summary here in this thread about the current status? Is it ongoing? Finished? Archived?
  3. (Optional) Would you like to give an update on one of the weekly I&D WG calls (starting again in September - see agenda page for schedule)?

Yes.

The spec was updated via a substantive PR being merged, about 3 months ago (a new section on numeric algorithm number 2).

We are expecting another meaningful update in the next 1-2 months as we do an editorial pass and adjust to finalized changes in the DID spec.

Implementations of the spec in Python, Java, JavaScript, and Swift just began, with an ETA of October. These are in public apache2 github repos with work funded by SICPA. They should be demoed at IIW.

Would you like to give an update?

No, but thank you for the offer. The call happens to occur at a time that is very hard for me to meet (I have another call an hour later, and two or sometimes three in the hours before. It's not the time, in and of itself; it's the number of calls in my Monday evenings.) Since I don't believe anybody else in the WG is collaborating on this, I am not trying to give status updates there. My collaborators are coming from the DIDComm WG. But it remains DIF work, and I will be happy to provide written updates from time to time.
