(a CSS property was discussed on the WACI-PEx call today, that might be even better!)
also note-- at Spruce we use docusaurus for https://spruceid.dev/ , and a little custom CSS magic let us display line numbers in cut-and-pasteable blocks. Not sure if the same JS libraries for code-block formatting are at work under the hood, but if so, feel free to cut and paste the CSS definitions or other tweaks to docusaurus in that PR?

^ I already tried,
'''json=
did not work. Not sure if it would be worth the hassle, but just putting in the feature request in case it's easy or the markdown parser/library is already being replaced at some point for some other reason... a girl can dream!
