material design 3 #261

it would be nice if you switched to material design 3 then there would be no problems with using colors on android 12

deckerst commented 2 years ago

I may adopt parts of M3 (likely the typography, probably some controls) but not everything. As for the colors, I explained in #260 why I don't intend to adopt the whole dynamic scheme. It's not a technical limitation, it's an aesthetic choice on my part.

it's just that now the design is not very versatile and stands out from other applications and the system. not in the best light it would be great to see the design something like google photos

stands out from other applications and the system

I guess you're on a Pixel phone and referring to Google apps.

In my case, I only see that Google apps harmonized their looks to the latest Google fashion. On a Samsung phone, all the system apps follow their own One UI style. As for the other apps I'm using, they each have their own style: Firefox, Telegram, Bookshelf, KakaoTalk, Merlin, AntennaPod, Musicolet, MS Office, VLC...

But more importantly, I do want Aves to be unique and recognizable by its UI. Originality over conformity.

yes i use pixel phone.

google make android itself so i think they have a strong influence on most android developers. so, when developing android applications, google material design is often used. and I think over time this trend will only increase. so there will be more applications with this design.

I don't really like the design of samsung, I think it's pretty outdated. and I have heard many such complaints from many acquaintances who use samsung. so to be honest I don't think it's a good example

of the listed apps, I know only firefox, telegram and vlc. and as far as I remember the last time I used the official telegram client, its design did not go far from the material (or maybe it actually uses it). I don't like the design of the vlc, and the fact that it's unique honestly doesn't make me like it. i use vanadium. but in principle, the design of firefox is not bad, but there is not much of it

I think that it will be more recognizable even by the icon (but actually by design too) if it has time to occupy the niche of an open source gallery with a good minimalist design. but it will take a lot of time to develop it from scratch, and during this time someone with a high probability can manage to occupy this niche. just making material design 3. this is my personal opinion, but it just happened with some other apps

266 Your dream come true ^^

wow, this is very cool can I send here my proposals related to the design?

deckerst commented 2 years ago

No idea! That thing is unrelated with me. I suppose it's just an unscrupulous company which intends to make an Aves copycat and put in some ads or something later on.

Anyway, you can find the original offer here.
