We initially created a survey for people to fill out about existing discount websites. After feedback from tutor Arafeh Karimi in the week 7 workshop, we re-evaluated the need for us to do a survey. We refined our project aim, which is now:
To re-design the traditional forum style discount website, into a map style optimised for the local community.
It was discussed that a redesign doesn't necessarily require a market research survey. Focus groups would be better suited towards the goal of the project. A pivot was made with the project plan.
Create a wireframe with the best features from each website studied
Create a low-fidelity paper prototype
Create a low-fidelity digital prototype
Conduct user testing on the low-fidelity digital prototype
During the next week (16th -23rd of September) we plan to all individually create an app interface each using the POP prototyping software https://popapp.in/, on the 23rd we will showcase our designs to the other group members to pick out the best features of each.
During the following week (23rd - 30th of September) we plan to collaborate together, using the best features we chose, to create a single final design for the Hi-Fidelity prototype, this will be generated using the JustInMind prototyping software http://www.justinmind.com/, This will be completed in time for the week 10 stand-up meeting.
Following the week 10 stand-up, we will start creating the Hi-Fidelity prototypes until the end of the semester.
What is Preventing Progress
The main thing that set us back over the last week was the survey we created. Ultimately, the survey will not be used, so the time creating it could have been used on something more productive.
Coming up with a way to refine our project aim also took some time
Conflicting deadlines from other subjects prevented some collaboration, so our team decided to separate for this leg of the course and do research separately. We then collated the information together for the Stand Up.

What Has Happened
Survey
We initially created a survey for people to fill out about existing discount websites. After feedback from tutor Arafeh Karimi in the week 7 workshop, we re-evaluated the need for us to do a survey. We refined our project aim, which is now:
It was discussed that a redesign doesn't necessarily require a market research survey. Focus groups would be better suited towards the goal of the project. A pivot was made with the project plan.
The survey we created was therefore not needed. It can be found here: https://jairaldine.typeform.com/to/jViyCB
Research
As a pivot from the survey, our team has done research on 4 discount websites instead:
- All the deals allthedeals.com.au
- Catch of the Day catchoftheday.com.au
- Groupon groupon.com.au
- Ozbargain ozbargain.com.au
All of the information found can be viewed in Google Slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PLDStWkqre39uGtT2QSJMM55iDyd9fnYjco3d0DWy3I/edit?usp=sharing
