Addressing Bias:
It's good that you're taking the opinion of people in a way that will tally their votes, though what if something is extremely popular but quite bias in the the left/right wing? How will you make sure that this discussion is heard? Or is it that you don't want these to be seen?
I like the idea though there's also the issue of users who aren't politically knowledgeable, what would be much harder but cool, would be to automatically know what articles are more right/left based on text analysis or a moderated/invite only community.
