Decentralized Credits Logo Animation

We would like to emphasize where the name Decred came from in the educational videos we are working on. To accomplish this I had an idea of an animation of the primary logo which "expands" to spell out decentralizedCREDITS and then "contracts" back to just deCRED. I have mentioned this idea to @kyleFirethought already and he requested I open this Issue.

Requirements:

dimensions - screen size = 1920x1080px, animation = 960px wide when expanded.
variations - 1 for each variant of the primary logo would be ideal.
format - AdobeCC motion graphics template (.mogrt) would be ideal - .mov animation files would also be acceptable.
length - TBD (will update soon, but timing adjustments via .mogrt would be ideal.)

Looks fine, don't know too much about the colour scheme you are working to though.

Only [#091440] on primary text no inverted variations?

.mogrt files require at least 1 comment or effect control to be created. As it stands I can create an expression that flips the colour scheme and and control that remaps certain comp attributes.

Obviously away at the moment but any added depth to the spec would be much appreciated.

For the video we are currently working on the color scheme is similar to Decrediton. In the future however I could see a variety of color schemes being used for different types of videos.

I was thinking so that this template could benefit the wider community it would be best to make it as universal as possible. It would be great if this could have a transparent background and then, like you mentioned, an expression that would allow the selection of 1 out of all of the variants. (one color, full color, gradient, mono, positive and negative for each).

I haven't been able to spend much time playing around with the creation of templates yet so don't know the limitations. Is it possible to allow adjustment of timing of the animation? I suppose it may not be necessary though, as fine tuning of the start and end of the animation could be done through editing the animation together with stills in premiere.

Few notices and considerations: this should be made with both positive and negative versions of the symbol. That way all different color variants/backgrounds can be utilised later.

Regarding typography, I see this being a higher difficult task as eventually the quality of the typesetting has a big effect on the result. So being quite lengthy, the type needs to be set and finalized before animating. Either @saender if you got the time or anyone else who's well experienced in type work.

Typography:

All letters kerning must be done manually to get almost indistinguishable setting compared to the wordmark.
Depending on the type of animation used in the expanding transition, one might get away with just using HTF Gotham Pro. However if the difference with wordmark is too big, the additional letters should be reconstructed.
Contrast between decentralized and credit will be tricky to balance out. Keep in mind the variables between lowercase and small caps text, as well the weight differences and the alignment quality (lc and sc baselines and meanlines).

Hi guys, any sort of timeline on this? We've got just about everything we need to start piecing the video together. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of the month.

Hey @saender, I have the comp all set up and prepared on my end, @linnutee's recommendations seem the way to go if you could find time to fire an artboard over early next week it would be greatly appreciated. 👍 Many thanks.

outro outro_1 outro_2 outro_3 outro_4 outro_5 outro_6 just a quick export of the presets, everything can be customised. Just a draft animation at present. once the prepped text is ready I can start to develop things further. I will also provide a switch to end the outro prior to the "decentralised credits" text.

Tried tested and synced @justinsantoro. Let me know if there are any issues, obviously, if you try and turn all of the checkboxes on you will run into issues (top of the hierarchy will override) . original is the default checked option. There are also boxes to mute the audio and switch between short and long versions.
