Update Decred info on CoinGecko

We'll prepare the set of updates and let you know. In the meantime I have two questions:

• Do you have text assets for Decred anywhere on the site, like description? I clicked through the tabs but didn't see any. Just checking.
• Any chance to pull updates from Blockfolio instead of/in addition to Beam?

Sure no problem. I tend to go around Github looking at people talking about problems they are facing and see if it is related to us.

• Yes you can send that text assets over first, however we tend to rephrase them while attempting to retain the original context.
• We currently do not integrate with Blockfolio updates at this moment unfortunately.

Do you mean like project description? What is the desired format for the text, like max length and can it be multiline?

And where it will be displayed? I only found an autogenerated text on the Overview tab.

You can send that over to us first. We disabled it as we noticed there were quite a large number of outdated descriptions. We want to turn it back on and combine with autogenerated text eventually.

Currently that description is returned in our API however.

basically:

• remove existing block explorer links and add https://dcrdata.decred.org/ and https://dcr.tokenview.com/en/
  • mainnet.decred.org is deprecated and queued for removal
  • stats.decred.org already redirects to dcrdata.decred.org
• change Reddit URL to canonical https://www.reddit.com/r/decred/
• change Facebook URL to https://www.facebook.com/decredproject
• add https://chat.decred.org - this is our primary comm platform now
• remove https://forum.decred.org/ - it is readonly now
• add https://www.youtube.com/decredchannel
• add https://decred.org/community/ - index of all main English community pages

Besides the above changes to Decred page at CoinGecko I have two more questions:

• I noticed you use https://mainnet.decred.org/api/status?q=getCoinSupply for the supply API. We still maintain that but the recommended one is https://dcrdata.decred.org/api/supply . Also a full list of our chain APIs might be useful: https://dcrdata.decred.org/api/list
• The Guides tab links to Guide to Consensus Algorithms which states that Decred implements PoS. This is incorrect, Decred is not pure PoS but is a hybrid of both PoW and PoS that gives it a different security profile.

Can you please forward this to your colleagues?
