Investing from Treasury #61

Discussion of anything related to: investing from Treasury, decentralized funds, decentralized investing.

we could fund something like this [Baeond card game] a few years down the line when DCR is worth alot more . Having first passed a "Decred VC funds" proposal. (#proposals)

We should still discuss how to handle ownership stakes of other projects in general, since that was open for discussion here. Is that something that we never want to do? Is that something that should be put for a vote in Pi, in general? Would profits flow back to the treasury? Be distributed to stakeholders? Is there a difference between the initial funding amount (repay the treasury) and excess? (#proposals)

once you engage in that activity, it changes how regulators would view the project (#proposals)

the project is already self funding and does not need outside revenue (#proposals)

Biggest risks I see with this idea:

At the moment I think any investment must be organized as a standalone entity.

Initial versions of the WhyDecred.com proposal included a scheme where business profits are funneled back into Decred Treasury. Upon discussion it was decided to abandon this idea.
