You tell the Boss and he flips out. Points to mention:

You tell him it befriended you
He realizes you're the old Blade and flips out
You assure him that you want redemption -- but are forced now by the dragon, since you're the only one who it will listen to, to fight the king's dragon.
He says, fight with us this last time
You say, I must redeem myself and prepare first.
