Import opml brings up wrong options - can't import #18

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1.If I choose "Import from OPML" it brings up the "Complete action using"
dialog and I can only choose Gallery, Select Music track, or sound recorder.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I'd expect either a list of opml files on the phone or an option to use a
program that can choose one.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Latest version, original Droid running CyanogenMod 6.0 stable

Please provide any additional information below.

There is no real general method to select a certain file in android. If you
have a file browser installed, it should offer you the selection.

I will change this anyway to just showing the opml-files in the SD-card root in
a simple list to select from.

Yeah, that sounds like a good fix. I think maybe it just depends on what file
browser you have installed, but I'm using "File Manager" and it only offers me
those choices instead of a file list. Not your fault, but a listing of OPML
files in the SD root would be better, probably.

I did get around it by just creating a custom feed using Yahoo Pipes, but it
was a pretty cumbersome process to enter the URL by hand.

Hey, also - is there a way to maybe identify the name of the site in the
fullscreen view, like in the header or something, maybe after the article
title? Generally it doesn't matter, I mean, they're all sites I specifically
choose, but sometimes it's nice to know the source of the story before I click
through to the webpage. I've got a lot of sites with similar content, and some
of them are better than others at covering specific topics, like blog posts vs
news stories. Sometimes you want one, sometimes you want another. A favicon
aligned to the right side of the title would do nicely, or barring that, maybe
the first 20 characters or so of the URL along the bottom in a little bar above
"Go to Link" would do. Just some indication of which site the feed originated
from in the fullscreen view, somewhere.

Great program though, best RSS reader I've found!

Could you explain more detailed, what you mean with " identify the name of the
site in the fullscreen view".

Maybe that answers your question in a certain way: I do plan to add the page
icons where ever they are useful.

Maybe a picture would work best to describe it:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11834893/shot_revised.png

That's kind of what I'm looking for, preferably the icon, but at least the
parent site URL (both circled in red)

It would look pretty good, and help identify the site at a glance instead of
needing to guess.

Just a thought, thanks for the app!
