Generate a text file for mitochondrial gene cytochrome b that holds information relevant to its function.
Background
The initial aim of the DCL project is to use variation in the mitochondrial genome to determine relationships between cells. Variation at some locations will be more frequent than variation at other locations. Knowing why will help us understand the role these variants play in cellular fitness.
Understanding the products of mitochondrial DNA will help us make better sense of variation between mitochondrial DNA of individual cells.
Cytochrome b is a protein found in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells. It functions as part of the electron transport chain and is the main subunit of transmembrane cytochrome bc1 and b6f complexes. See Cytochrome b Wikipedia page for more details.
