Level Editor Toolbox? LET That does not help with Google 😂
CooLED
(Just throwing some random ideas here)
There is also a name conflict with LaTeX Editor, called LEd freeware for Windows, though the project seems abandoned - last release was in 2009 (and it doesn't support UTF-8, IIRC),
L-Ed feels higher level/dynamic than a lot of alternatives so I propose:
Super Level Editor!
Or SLED 🛷
Though not sure that would help the google results issue..
I think you should try to preserve the "LED" roots somehow! The following have very few or irrelevant hits on google (which would let the editor float to the top of the results):
One other idea I had would be to incorporate some or part of "haxe" into the name which has the dual purpose of advertising the haxe API:
Leved, which stands for the same things and also rhymes with loved
Leved, which stands for the same things and also rhymes with loved
I like Leved
Maple - [Map][L]evel[E]ditor
As much as I like the name, I think Maple would probably conflict with the mathematics software of the same name.
Leveled?
@sangohan Maple is used for another app :(
The thing that made me notice the editor straight away was the way stuff kinda dynamically "grew" as the map was being painted. Maybe a name that plays up to that strength?
Dymato - Dynamic Mapping Tool
Or something to that effect :P
Building off of @Leukai, a possibility would be Delta, since it combines LEd (albeit backwards) as well as the idea of growth, as the delta character represents change. However, I am 110% sure that this name is in use already...
Leed - LEvel EDitor ?
I think a short word that don't exist is the best solution. Like "Leved", closest enough from a real word. LEditor ?
What do you think about LDTK (stands for Level Designer ToolKit)?
I like it. There is a name collision with a project of the same name (https://github.com/hpparvi/ldtk) but seems obscure enough that this project could usurp it in the search index?
Solved the question by picking Level Designer Toolkit (for LDtk) :)
As some people pointed out, LEd is nice & short, but hard to find on google results, and thus, might be an issue at some point.
Btw, LEd obviously stands for Level EDitor
Therefore, I might rename it before 1.0 release, and I'm open to suggestions :)
