What sort of gun? A bulletspam LMG? An autocannon?
What happens if it breaks? Does it regenerate on its own? Does it need to be fixed by the repair tool?
I suppose i am not against this idea, it would change the dynamics of certain engagements, especially the ones in Hardpoint and ControlPoints. But, this change may upset some people.
Additionally, this is a game about movement. Exactly how effective a fully stationary gun will be, even if it is truly OP otherwise, is up for debate. How many rockets do i need to delete it?
Maybe you can push it around also when someone's not actively using it? It would respawn in a few minutes like a car does when it gets broken and it can be repaired with the repair tool.
Could be a 100% accuracy autocannon with slight recoil? The rate of fire would not be great though....

Perhaps the gun could be collected by pressing some button (e.g. pressing "reload" while "driving" the gun). In this state, it would work similarly to a flag: the player is slowed, and is visibly carrying the gun. Perhaps the player is also unable to shoot while carrying it in their hands (like an ammo box), or perhaps they would be able to use their normal weapons while carrying the gun on their back (like the flag). Then, pressing some other key ("reload", or, if weapons are usable, "interact") would re-deploy the gun. Deploying and tearing down the gun would take a long time, say, 5 seconds.
Maybe an anti-tank gun (ATGM, cursor guided type)?
I'd rather have a cursor-guided rocket launcher as a proper weapon you can carry normally. An alternative to the current rocket launcher, perhaps with lower bullet speed and/or longer reload
A mounted gun that spawns in certain locations on certain maps. Would have a health bar and infinite ammo capacity. Shooting the gun for too long would cause the barrel to turn red. If the barrel overheats too much, the gun starts taking significant amounts of damage. Can survive 2 rocket or grenade shots and the player can be shot while shooting the gun.
