Open ugurgungezerler opened 6 years ago

ugurgungezerler commented 6 years ago

Hello, In project have a lot of images (250 character, 12 animation behavior, 5 way direction images ) and 250 atlasses. I have planned 200 more items (with animation behaviors 5 way) in the future. But editor 2 with the present state working with laggy.

Single image sizes can change between 10x10 and 250x250, Auto generated asset image sizes can change between 1024x512 and 8192x4096

Best Regards

So to clarify: You have 250 atlases in sizes between 1024x512 and 8192x4096?

Are you using all of these at the same time? And have you calculated how much memory those will occupy on the GPU?

one 1024x512 eats about 2MB one 8192x4096 eats about 130MB

ugurgungezerler commented 6 years ago

Yes. Are you using all of these at the same time? - No Problem is editor opening too slow on Loading Assets, and then working slowly when this assets in my project.

sicher commented 6 years ago

Would you mind sharing the project with someone on our team?

ugurgungezerler commented 6 years ago

My assets from Ultima Online. i'm trying a mini fan game. When i added all animations with my own nodejs defold asset generator, defold won't open and cpu %100. I reduced assets, now editor working but still a bit slowly

I click to sync project then i got Something went wrong when synchronizing your project.

My files are in cloud or i need push?

ugurgungezerler commented 6 years ago

Uploading assets and images, then i will send link to you.

sicher commented 6 years ago

You need to sync the project to get your changes up to the cloud servers.

Got the assets it takes a long time for the editor to open with the assets imported.

Erik and Mats: I created a test project on the dashboard called "Ultima Online assets" that you can use for profiling.

matgis-king commented 6 years ago

@sicher I tried out the "Ultima Online assets" that you posted. Apart from it taking a very long time to shut down the editor for some reason, I did not experience abnormal load times or sluggishness for a project with this many assets. It took about 75 seconds to load the project on my iMac, and while that is a bit long, it is consistent with other large projects. Interacting with objects in the scene view was still very responsive, although the project does not have any complex scenes at the moment, only a lot of atlas images.

@ugurgungezerler I don't think I'm able to reproduce the issue you're seeing in this project. Perhaps it is a problem with complex scenes? Can you give some specific examples of things you find sluggish to work with?
