It is a good concept surely, although I am not sure if it is worth adding as a separate feature. I have added it as a simple little button 4ef30525c87b562845e1f8eb202f4b820ff79721, added you to contributor list, thank you. The thing it doesn't address is that this method doesn't actually clear the chat, messages are still going to be visible even though a little.
