The current design uses the ST ESDALC6V1-1U2 TVS diode for all cases where we want to protect a single line. The problem is that this is an 0201 sized component, which is extremely small and difficult to handle. It also doesn't solder quite as flat on the board as other components for this reason.
A potential alternative is the ST ESDALC6V1-1M2 TVS diode, which appears to have similar specifications. However, it is in a slightly larger (0402'ish sized) package, so its probably a better choice.
